Watch for New Trends
Review your site logs or statistics service package.
If you don't already have a site statistics package
on your Web server, then try the HitBox
service and get their paid statistics package, or
there is a very good free service at Stat
Counter. It's imperative that you know who visits
you, the path they took while on your site, how long
they stayed, and which search engine brings them to
you. By checking this daily or every second day, you
can note any trends as they begin to form, and be
in an informed position to manage your website.
Monitor Competitive PPC Bids
If you use Pay-Per-Click (PPC) search engines, make
sure you keep record of your bids. Before you realize
it you could be paying way too much (or even worse
too little) for your clickthroughs. You also need
to learn how to spot fake clickthroughs. This is where
your statistics package becomes even more invaluable
to you as you'll easily be able to see if you have
received repeated clicks from the same IP address.
